This is a recent acquisition, size 100 x 150 cms, hand-painted on cottton. I would like to think that this one was in some measure the fruit of my continued frequentation of Roger. I crossed his path as he was going home one evening and, not having seen him for a few days, asked innocently how he was. ‘I’ve got an unusual textile piece in from New Guinea’, he at once replied - making clear that the priorities of serious people do not extend to the exchange of futilities about the personal trivia of existence.
So I arranged to pop in the following morning, did so, and agreed with his assessment that this was something not to pass up. According to him, it shows influence from Australian (aboriginal) design, which seems right.
