It’s not without some trepidation that I post this portrait of Mama Josie under ‘objects’. Anyhow, she came to us from Roger and is said to be not younger than about the 1920s/1930s (I’ve forgotten which) because one type of beads she wears hasn’t been made since then. Anyhow, she is very dear to our hearts and I only wish that I had been able to photograph her with a skill more becoming to her attributes. She may not be sexy, but she has bags of personality, and is very dear to us. if I remember correctly, her country of origin is somewhere in West Africa.
